Plastic Is NOT The Culprit!
Blaming plastics for all the pollution around them is like blaming guns for all the deaths around them.
Plastics are much more efficient at fulfilling their purpose than most of those supposedly “environmentally-friendly,” or “bio-degradable” alternatives, especially paper, yes, paper that causes forests to be cut down.
I have yet to see paper biodegrade or decompose under most landfill designs.
I have been writing about it for more than three decades.
The real culprit are those little-known perverse subsidies pushed by unethical lobbyist groups at the service of powerful vested interests.
Human behavior is undoubtedly one of the most complex things in the universe, e.g., somebody’s trash is somebody else’s treasure.
However, human behavior is not an issue here because most humans are in favor of recycling plastics, that is, they are ready, willing, and able to recycle.
Yet, plastic recycling has never taken off because it has never been economically viable.
Why not?
Because of the perverse subsidies that artificially lower the price of “environmentally-friendly” alternatives, thus creating a doubly negative impact on the environment. First, by not allowing the economic viability of plastic…
